Educator. Author. Minister.

LaToya Pitts is a passionate educator, published author, and licensed minister whose life's work sits at the intersection of language, faith, and community. With over 20 years of experience teaching High School English, she has shaped the voices of countless students — helping them find the words to tell their own stories, earn scholarships, and step boldly into their futures.

Rooted in Toledo and now a beacon in Cincinnati, LaToya brings rare depth to every student she coaches. Her creativity in the classroom is matched by her spiritual dedication — she serves her local church as a licensed minister and expresses her faith through the artistry of praise dance, a role she has led for over a decade.

Whether coaching a senior through their Common App essay, guiding a student toward a life-changing scholarship, or mentoring through her writing and ministry work, LaToya's approach is always the same: she sees the person first, and draws out the best of who they already are.

Everything You Need to Know

How many sessions will my student need?
Most students benefit from 2–4 sessions depending on how many essays they need to write and where they are in the process. We'll create a personalized plan together in the first session.
Are sessions virtual or in-person?
Both! Sessions are available via video call for students anywhere in the country, or in-person for families in the Cincinnati, OH area.
When should we start — junior or senior year?
Earlier is always better. Starting in 11th grade gives us time to craft stronger essays without the pressure of looming deadlines. That said, seniors under deadline pressure are absolutely welcome — we work efficiently and effectively.
Do you offer package pricing for multiple sessions?
Yes — package options are available for students who need multiple sessions across Common App and scholarship essays. Reach out through the contact form to learn more about package rates.
What makes LaToya different from other college essay coaches?
LaToya isn't just a tutor — she's a 20-year classroom English teacher, published author, TESOL-certified educator, and Ohio State Young Scholars affiliate. She has seen thousands of student essays and knows exactly what admissions readers and scholarship committees are looking for. She doesn't write essays for students; she helps them discover and articulate their own extraordinary story.
